Best Italian food in the area! Cozy with Great service, wonderful ambiance and amazing cookies. The owners and staff are so nice. There is usually about an hour wait during peak hours but it's worth it. The food is delicious! Get the pink sauce. Highly recommended

What a great little spot for a family meal or a date night.The places we packed by 6! They don't take reservations so get there early or grab a glass of wine and wait out front. They will serve you bread and you will make new friends while you wait!Our server was super friendly, greeted us by name and made sure we had everything we needed.Something little I appreciated was the diversity of people sitting around me. Young, old, and every walk of life. Great to see in a little restaurant. The food was on point, although I was craving a nice risotto (they don't have it currently on the menu) I ended up with some very simple but tastey gnocchi in pink sauce (upgrade to the pink sauce...bomb dot com!)Tip your waiter and try a Chianti!

This is our first time at Mama D's. Although I have read the raving reviews about the service and food, we are still very impressed by how friendly and homey the place make you feel. Our server Josh is very friendly and helpful and he even go out his way to give us their delicious home made cookies for the road. What a wonderful place! It make us feel happy just to be there, not to mention the delicious homemade pasta!! Next time we are in town, we will definitely come back again.

I call this marvelous place from time to time since I love the ambiance that is unique to this place. The staff is extremely friendly and experienced. The service is extremely quick. Needless to say, the food they cook is first-rate. I visited many times and I was always delighted. The payment is honest. I highly suggest this restaurant to all my friends.

Amazing service. Great family atmosphere. And such tasty food, for a very reasonable price. Especially when considering the location downtown Newport Beach, 2 minutes away from the beach. I keep going there every time I am in the area for business. I typically reserve my visit to Mama D’s for the last evening, after a walk in the beach at sunset. I even met the owner once. It was summertime and there was too much wait so he hung out with me over a glass of wine outside... call that a reference in customer service and family friendly.

Food delicious!! very noise but is worth it for the food. Wine maybe you could do a little bit better, not really spacious and forget about parking!!! We had to walk (I guess was good both ways one to make room for more food and coming back to let the food settle) 4 blocks down. Service is good.

Love going to Mama D's for some hearty pasta! I love their pink sauce, which is a combination of marinara and Alfredo. The line gets long so I would recommend going early or on weekdays. There's a small lot in the back or there is free street parking after 6pm most days!

Hands down the best Italian food I have ever had. Friendly host. Friendly staff. Vibrant atmosphere. You can smell the wonderful smell of garlic as you pull up from the outside. Fast service with a smile. Not one bad thing to say about the food. Parking is tight but a short walk helps the food settle lol. Will return again sooner than later

Food was amazing, and that was the friendliest restaurant I've had ever been to, hands down. My 8 year old asked why the kids menu did not have a maze on it, our waiter offered to go into the back office and print him out one. At the end of the meal, he brought out complimentary house made chocolate chip cookies (still warm from the oven!), suckers, and a box with toys in it. I've never seen this level of service, even from restaurants two or three times the price. If you go here, be prepared for the wait, but make it part of the experience. Cannot recommend Mamma D's enough.

Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! From the food to the service! Anyone who owns or operates a restaurant must come here to see what service with a smile is truly about! Our server Sam, was kind, funny and delightful across the board. We had a party of 7 and he asked and remembered all of our names, had great recommendations for menu choices and the food was just as great as the service. A must eat when your in Newport! Make sure you try the pink sauce on the pasta!

I meet with friends this nice place quite a bit! This is my favorite place to dine. I go there at least once a month. The cooking is great, the workers are professional and the rates are fair. I like eating in this place over a rich lunch.

We were in town from the Sacramento area and seen this restaurant near us. First off we had about a 30 minute wait outside and they offered me a blanket to keep warm..star #1. Second we enjoyed a couple of samples while we waited..star #2. Our waiter was Booker and he was FANTASTIC..star #3. The food was so yummy and we could customize it a bit..star #4. Finally the pricing was reasonable..star #5. My only concern was the restaurant was on the small side so it was very compacted and on the loud side but overall it was a wonderful experience!!!

Although I have no photos to share, this is one of my favorite Italian places to go. There is a bit of wait time depending on the hours you go but the service you’re complimented with during the wait I found it to be very nice. I didn’t give it five stars only because of parking. If it is your first time going finding a spot to park you’re vehicle may be a bit daunting.

Great service, food and wineWe were here with a group. The staff was very attentive. The food was delicious. We had a private room which was really a balcony looking out onto the harbor which was great. I can't speak to the regular dining room but the private room was a definite thumbs up for coming again.

Amazing food! They are open for take out only. I suggest to order by phone for pick up to avoid waiting, it is a popular place.

Great little spot I've never been to before. It was my wife's birthday on Saturday, and they dont take reservations. So we decided to go early when they open. We got there around 4:30 and it was almost filled, mind you they open at 4. Food was fantastic, we had a pizza and some calamari. Service was almost too good, they were very attentive for being so crowded.I also like the old school vibe, and them singing Happy Birthday to my wife(the normal version).
